Finalist for Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies

Early in 2008, ECS was invited to participate in a national program called Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies. Some of the successful, long time winners in this program include large and respected companies such as Boston Pizza and PCL Construction. To qualify, ECS prepared a comprehensive submission package in late October. We are proud to announce that ECS has been chosen as one of the British Columbia finalists.

What does it take to become a BC finalist for one of the country's most prestigious awards? According to Todd Ponzini, a senior manager in Deloitte's Vancouver office, there are a number of specific criteria that qualify a company to be a BC finalist for the Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies award, sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC Commercial Banking, the National Post and Queen's School of Business.

In addition to having revenues that exceed $10 million and being privately owned by a Canadian individual, eligibility also requires a sound strategic plan, a keen understanding of customer needs, solid financial results and the ability to effectively attract and retain employees. ECS, notes Ponzini, met all of the above criteria with flying colours. "Their submission demonstrated that they've been able to use strategic planning to grow the company's business, create more value for their customers, attract and retain the best people in their industry and excel in their market area," says Ponzini. "It should also be noted that earning a position as a BC finalist in your first year of application is a very good achievement."
